Open Position: Design and Propulsion Test Engineer

Position Overview:
In this senior position, you will take a lead role in the design and testing of our propulsion systems. You will also have extensive opportunities to contribute to assembly, integration and customer support as the systems and components you design move through the value chain.
Responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing propulsion and spacecraft systems; generating detailed drawings; generating and maintaining documents and specifications.
- Developing cold flow and hot fire propulsion test plans; precisely performing tests per approved procedures.
- Conducting proof pressure testing.
- Developing control and instrumentation system requirements based upon an approved test plans.
- Troubleshooting anomalies that arise during rocket motor build and test; conducting customer analyses and providing customer support as necessary.
- Creating and writing clear procedures (including assembly, integration and test procedures); conducting process hazard analyses (PHAs).
- Designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Developing, documenting, and maintaining detailed work instructions, process flow diagrams, and test procedures for manufacturing operations.
- Contributing to business development work (B&P) as needed.
- Conducting searches for space-related components and suppliers; obtaining quotes; managing vendors in the supply chain.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or other aerospace-related engineering discipline.
- More than 5 years of propulsion test experience.
- More than 2 years of experience in designing/developing fluid systems, or components that are inherent to fluid systems (valves, pumps, tanks, regulators, or other fluid control devices).
- Experience with at least one common engineering design tool that includes extensive knowledge of options, shortcuts, map keys, etc.
- Strong knowledge of propulsion and spacecraft systems.
- Strong knowledge of spacecraft propellants.
- Working knowledge of fluid system instrumentation and control components (e.g. pressure transducers, thermocouples, resistance temperature detectors, relays, solenoid valves, etc.)
- U.S. citizenship/US person.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with mill, lathe and/or other machining experience.
- CREO/ProE knowledge and experience is strongly desired.
- Ability to write clearly, precisely, and concisely; ability to organize, construct, and write important documents such as proposals or program reports.
- Familiarity with and ability to write clear processes/procedures; ability to identify when something is or isn’t a process deviation; ability to conduct process hazard analysis.
Ability to come up with solutions for common problems and roadblocks.

- The primary work location for this position is San Marcos, CA. This position may require occasional travel.
- Salary Range $120,000 – $175,000
- Based on the level of experience and qualifications of the candidate, the compensation package for this position may be adjusted up or down.
